After missing the Bonaparte's Gull on Friday morning it was back on Saturday for another go. On Friday the bird had been seen briefly at Traeth Dulas, where as on Thursday it had been seen at nearby Traeth Lligwy, so where to go? We opted for Traeth Dulas and met a small group of birders not seeing much. Reg Thorpe decided to try Lligwy as plenty of people were at Dulas. A Peregrine and a Kingfisher showed but no sign of the gull. Then Alan's mobile rang, it was Reg, he had it at Traeth Lligwy! Panic and a racing start as birders dashed for their cars and with wheels spinning headed for Lligwy!Reg and a couple of other birders were stood well out on the sands looking out to sea, we ran across the beach, lungs bursting, to join them. Whew! The adult Bonaparte's Gull was happily floating on the sea with a gang of Common Gulls. We all enjoyed good scope views as the sun set behind us, a great bird for North Wales.
